Oriwu College marks 75th anniversary in style
In a grand style, Oriwu College, Ikorodu, Lagos, last weekend, rolled out its drums to mark the 75th anniversary of the school.
To the old students, the occasion didn’t only bring back memories of past decades, but also evoked many reminiscences of pleasant experiences during their stay in the school.
In his address, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Oriwu College Old Students Association of Nigeria (OCOSAN), Chief Mutiu Owolabi Ishola Lemomu, said the school started very small, from one private building to another, until an expansive, suitable one was found and secured.
He said the anniversary theme: “Journey Through Time: 75 Years of Memories and Excellence,” was designed to galvanise old students and the society at large, to be part of the development of the great college.”
The President of OCOSAN, Comrade M.B.S Arole, who paid tribute to the founders, educators, and alumni who have shaped the school, said the journey has been marked by triumphs and challenges, but through it all, the Alumni remained united in their commitment to uphold the values of integrity, hard work, and compassion.
Said he: “The 75th Anniversary is a testament to the resilience of Oriwu College and the enduring impact it continues to have on the lives of countless individuals.
“As we look ahead, let us reaffirm our commitment to the principles that have guided us – restructuring for a brighter future, rescuing those in need, renovating our facilities, and reconstructing our bonds. Together, we will continue to build upon the foundation laid by our predecessors, ensuring Oriwu College remains a bastion of knowledge, innovation, and inclusivity.”
Chairman of the occasion, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, also attested to the fact that the Colege has been a cornerstone of Ikorodu division at large, producing notable alumni who have made significant contributions to various sectors.”
