The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, has suspended the Oba Odo of Ilesa, High Chief Busuyi Gbadamosi, over the alleged disappearance of two transformers.
It was gathered that the transformers, procured to serve some residents of Ilesa communities, were allegedly carted away by the chief.
It was gathered that Oba Haastrup had asked Gbadamosi to retrieve the transformers within a week, but he failed.
The paramount ruler of Ijesaland, therefore, suspended him as the Oba Odo of Ilesa over his failure to provide the two missing transformers he allegedly sold.
Chief Gbadamosi was suspended after he was arrested by the police in Ilesa and allegedly refused to write a statement at the police station.
Residents of Araromi community, Ilesa, had reported the high chief to Owa’s Panel on Conduct, Chieftaincy Matters, and Boundary Disputes, alleging that he stole the transformers.
However, Chief Gbadamosi denied the allegation, noting that he was only trying to assist in helping the community fix the transformers.
In a video, Oba Haastrup was heard ordering Chief Gbadamosi to return the two transformers.
The monarch in the video said he would provide a low-bed truck to bring the transformers back from Ibadan, where they were taken for the alleged repair.
Oba Haastrup also said he was ready to involve engineers and the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company if the transformers had not yet been repaired.
Providing an update on the matter, one of the members of the panel said Chief Gbadamosi was detained by the police for allegedly failing to provide the missing transformers.
The source also confirmed that the Owa Obokun Adimula has suspended the traditional chief pending the outcome of the police investigation.
Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the arrest of Chief Gbadamosi.
