Oyo to remove Illegal billboards, sanction defaulters

The Oyo State Government will soon embark on an aggressive debt recovery exercise by removing all unauthorised, illegal, and debtor advertising structures in the state.

The Director General of the Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA), Oludolapo Esho Ajanaku, disclosed this in his office.

Ajanaku emphasised the upcoming enforcement exercise, noting that most outdoor advertising practitioners still need to complete their revalidation and debt reconciliation as required by the agency.

The DG stated that a number of unauthorised electronics and outdoor advertisements are being displayed across the state, urging all duly registered Third Party practitioners to complete their revalidation by July 11, 2025, and their debt reconciliation by July 28, 2025.

He advised business owners with signage in the state to register with the Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency by visiting the OYSAA office, located on the third floor of the Water Corporation Building Secretariat in Ibadan.

He said, “OYSAA will not condone any illegal billboard on the streets and will soon embark on aggressive enforcement by clamping down on any structure of advertising practitioners who fail to comply with the rules and regulations of the agency.”

“It would be recalled that OYSAA embarked on a revalidation exercise to streamline regulatory oversight, enhance transparency, and accountability to improve the efficiency of the agency’s service delivery and create a more business-friendly advertising environment in the Pacesetter State,” he said.
