Operatives of the Plateau State Police Command have arrested 22 suspects reportedly involved in the mob killing in Mangu, Plateau State, on Friday, which claimed the lives of some people who were travelling from Kaduna.
The incident involved an 18-seater commercial bus carrying 31 passengers from Zaria to Qua’an Pan for a wedding ceremony. The attack, which occurred near the outskirts of Mangun Village, left the vehicle severely damaged and three individuals still missing as of Sunday morning.
A security analyst, Zagazola Makama, has revealed that the death toll from the tragic incident has risen to eight.
“The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 22 suspects in connection with the deadly attack on passengers in Mangun community, Mangu Local Government Area of the state, bringing the death toll to eight,” Makama noted.
The security analyst added that three people are still missing following the attack.
“An updated eyewitness account revealed that the targeted vehicle was conveying 31 passengers from Zaria to Qua’an Pan for a wedding ceremony not 28 passengers as initially reported. The witness further disclosed that three persons are still missing as of the time of reporting.”
