The Police in Ogun State have arrested a suspected armed robber, identified as Matthew Adebisi, for allegedly attacking a motorcyclist with a locally-made pistol in Sabo.
The suspect was arrested following a distress call from members of the public in the Sodeke area of Sabo.
The Command’s Spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said that a locally-made pistol was recovered from the suspect.
He said: “On April 5, 2026, at about 10:00 p.m., the Command received a report that Matthew Adebisi had attacked an okada rider with a locally-made gun, leaving the victim unconscious before fleeing with his motorcycle.
“Upon receiving the report, operatives were swiftly dispatched to the scene.
“The suspect was pursued and subsequently apprehended. The locally made gun used in the attack and the stolen motorcycle were recovered from him. The victim was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, where he is currently responding to treatment.”
Babaseyi said that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, adding that the suspect will face charges in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, has commended the swift response and professionalism of the operatives.
Ojajuni, while reiterating the Command’s dedication to combating violent crimes and ensuring the safety of residents, urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities.
The CP also encouraged the people to report any security concerns through the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines.
