The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old suspected burglar, Lukman Yunusa, and recovered five stolen motorcycles in Potiskum.
Police said the motorcycles were stolen from Gombe, Bauchi and Yobe states.
The command’s spokesman, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed in a statement that operatives attached to the Potiskum Divisional Police Headquarters acted on credible intelligence about a suspect linked to burglary, theft and motorcycle snatching across the three states.
He said the operatives traced and arrested Yunusa, a resident of Potiskum, during a coordinated operation on March 3, 2026, at about 1:10 p.m.
According to him, the suspect confessed during preliminary investigation, leading to the recovery of five motorcycles out of the 10 he allegedly stole in the three states.
Abdulkarim said the recovered motorcycles are in police custody while efforts are ongoing to identify and contact their rightful owners.
He added that investigations are continuing to recover the remaining motorcycles and arrest other members of the syndicate.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, commended residents for their cooperation with the police and urged them to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
