The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of 32-year-old Dahiru Musa in Dorayi Quarters, Kano.

This was revealed in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, in a statement on Wednesday.

According to Haruna, the suspects were arrested following a report by Musa’s brother, who filed a missing person report and raised suspicions about Musa’s associate, Aliyu Adamu, 22, of Gaida Yan-Kusa Quarters.

“On September 29, 2024, at about 7:30 pm, a resident of Dorayi Quarters, Kano, lodged a complaint that his brother, Dahiru Musa, had gone missing. He expressed strong suspicions regarding Aliyu Adamu, 22, who was the last person in contact with the deceased,” Haruna stated.

Detectives arrested Adamu on September 30, 2024. During interrogation, Adamu confessed to conspiring with Mubarak Abdulsalam, 20, to lure Musa under the pretense of discussing a land transaction. After offering him poisoned food, they stabbed Musa to death, wrapped his body in a sack, and dumped it in an uncompleted building near Adamu’s house.

Their motive was to seize Musa’s property, as Adamu had obtained the land documents.

Another accomplice, Sadiq Sunusi, 19, was arrested for allegedly attempting to burn the body with petrol to destroy evidence after Adamu’s arrest.

The charred remains were taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for an autopsy.

All three suspects remain in custody and will face charges upon the completion of the investigation.

Commissioner of Police, Salman Garba, thanked the public for their assistance and urged residents to be cautious when conducting business in unfamiliar areas.
