Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested two suspected kidnappers allegedly involved in the abduction of a 24-year-old woman in Igbo Etche, Etche Local Council of the state.
The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Ifeanyi Chukwu Alozie and Miracle Nwimene, were apprehended by operatives of the Command’s Special Operations and Intelligence Team at their hideout in Egwi, Etche.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the arrests followed actionable intelligence received by the Command on September 22, 2025. The operatives trailed the suspects to their hideout, where they were taken into custody.
According to the police, the suspects allegedly lured the victim through a dating site to Igbo Etche, where she was kidnapped on September 21, 2025. During her captivity, the suspects reportedly collected a ransom of N200,000 from her relatives before releasing her.
Iringe-Koko confirmed that the suspects are in police custody while an investigation is ongoing to arrest other accomplices still at large. She added that the victim has been debriefed and reunited with her family.
The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, Olugbenga Adepoju, commended the operatives for their bravery and professionalism in apprehending the suspects.
He assured residents of the Command’s commitment to ensuring safety and security across the state and advised citizens to exercise caution when using online dating platforms due to the potential risks they pose.
