Police commend cleric for donating security gadgets to vigilante command

The Kano State Police Command has commended Sheikh Nuhu Idris Saleh for donating security gadgets to the Kano State Vigilante Command to support Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s efforts in tackling crime and sustaining peace across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, gave the commendation while receiving the donation at the Officers’ Mess in Bompai, Kano. He was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Lawan Mani.

Bakori described the donation as timely, stressing the importance of security in the state. He called on wealthy individuals, politicians and corporate organisations to emulate the gesture by contributing to peace and development in the state and the country at large.

He also urged the leadership of the vigilante command to make judicious use of the items for the benefit of the state.

Earlier, the donor, Sheikh Nuhu Idris Saleh, who is based in Saudi Arabia, said the contribution was his modest way of supporting the vigilantes to ease their work.

Speaking through veteran journalist and community leader Aliyu Lawan Saulawa, Sheikh Saleh noted that he has been supporting various sectors financially and morally to uplift the welfare of people in society.

The Commander of the Kano State Vigilante, Shehu Rabiu, also commended the cleric for the gesture and assured that the items would be put to proper use.

The donated items include 500 rechargeable torchlights, four solar panels, four batteries, 200 waterproof jackets and 100 whistles.

Highlights of the event included the formal presentation of the gadgets to the Commissioner of Police for onward distribution to the vigilante command.
