The Gombe State Police Command has announced the immediate closure of all illegal motor parks and unauthorised taxi services operating within the state metropolis, including the Dadin Kowa Motor Park.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, Buhari Abdullahi, who announced this in a press release on Monday, said the action was part of the state government’s efforts to restore order, enhance security, and ensure passenger safety.

He warned that any individual or group found engaging in illegal loading or unloading of passengers at unauthorised locations or operating unauthorised taxi services would face strict legal consequences, including arrest, prosecution, and possible impoundment of vehicles.

“All commercial vehicle operators are hereby directed to conduct all loading and unloading activities at the Ibrahim Hassan Dan-Kwambo Motor Park, which remains the only officially recognised and designated motor park for such operations.

“For your safety, do not patronise vehicles at unauthorised locations or taxi cabs without prescribed paint. We urge all stakeholders in the transport sector to cooperate and comply fully with this directive,” he stated.

The police spokesperson noted that security agencies and relevant enforcement bodies have been duly instructed to monitor compliance and take necessary actions against offenders.

He also asked the general public to report unauthorised loading or unloading by any vehicle to the nearest security formation.
