Police extend tinted glass permit enforcement grace period to August 12

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has extended the grace period for enforcing the tinted glass permit requirement to August 12, 2025.

This decision follows public concerns and feedback regarding the reactivation of the digital tinted glass permit application process. “In alignment with our commitment to providing transparent, inclusive, and citizen-focused policing, the Force wants to assure the public that their voices have not been ignored. Instead, these voices have been crucial in guiding ongoing reviews of the process to ensure it remains user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all,” the IGP stated.

The extension aims to facilitate further improvements to the application process, ensuring no citizen is unfairly disadvantaged. The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is actively enhancing physical and digital application options, introducing improved verification mechanisms, and streamlining procedures to minimise delays and inconvenience.

Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, urged citizens to utilise the official platform for applying and renewing the tinted glass permit via [http://possap.gov.ng] (http://possap.gov.ng).

“Members of the public should report any unauthorised or hidden charges, as well as cases of extortion during the application or biometric capturing process, to the appropriate police authorities, including through the dedicated hotline: 09169967000,” he said.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains dedicated to public safety, digital innovation, and continuous improvement in service delivery. We appreciate the cooperation and patience of the Nigerian people as these reforms are implemented,” Adejobi added.
