The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the arrest of two male suspects in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Forest Security Service.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the development to journalists in a statement issued in Abeokuta yesterday.
Babaseyi said the suspects were intercepted during a security operation and subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.
He said: “Preliminary inquiries are ongoing to establish their identities and determine the circumstances surrounding their activities within the area.
“The Ogun State Police Command wishes to assure residents that the situation is under control and that there is no cause for alarm.
“The suspects will be subjected to a thorough and professional investigation in accordance with the law, while any further action will be guided by the outcome of ongoing inquiries.”
The police spokesperson added that the command remained committed to maintaining public safety and security across the state and urged members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with credible and timely information.
