Police rescue 27 trafficked foreigners, three land buyers, arrest robber

The Police in Lagos have rescued 27 trafficked foreigners in Isheri Oshun, Alimosho Local Council of Lagos State.
The Guardian gathered that on March 7, a 30-year-old female Ghanaian was reported to have been held hostage in the area.
Following the report, police operatives were deployed to the scene.
The victim was successfully rescued alongside other 18 males and eight females of different foreign nationalities.
Lagos State Police Command disclosed this while presenting its achievements in the last two weeks.
Also, one Emmanuel Bernard has been arrested after kidnapping and blackmailing a lady in the Ojo area of the state.
On March 9, 2025, at about 11:45.p.m., the victim alleged that she was kidnapped and extorted by the man posing as a customer.
According to the victim, on March 5, at about 8.a.m, while she was at her shop in Alaba International Market, Ojo, Bernard contacted her via WhatsApp, requesting she deliver two phone pouches to Iyana Isashi.
However, upon arrival, she was forcefully dragged into a room by Bernard and a female accomplice, identified as Mazioma Okafor.
The suspects allegedly locked the door, physically assaulted her, took nude pictures, and demanded a ransom of N2,000,000.
The victim was only released after her family managed to pay N300,000.
Following her report, a team of police detectives was mobilised to the scene, leading to the swift arrest of the two suspects, who are currently in custody.
Spokesperson for Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin said the victims were lured to Nigeria under the pretext of getting them jobs.
Hundeyin revealed that on March 2, 2025, operatives of the Command, while on patrol, arrested 47-year-old Innocent Victor, 45-year-old Yusuf Ismaila, 46-year-old Omega David and 43-year-old Francis Asua who were caught while attempting to vandalise the electrical conductors attached to the transformer at Igbonla/Ilara Road, Eredo, Odo Noforija.
On searching the suspects, a plier, two iron cutting saws, one hammer and their operational vehicle, a
Toyota Corolla Saloon Car with Registration number BDG-22-GX ash color, were recovered from them.
MEANWHILE, three kidnapping victims have been rescued in the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ibeju-Lekki, where they had been held captive.
After the police were alarmed on March 7, 2025, a coordinated operation by the Anti-Kidnapping and Counter-Kidnapping Unit successfully led to the rescue of the victims.
The victims were found deep in a forest along the area. The kidnappers, under pressure from the police tactical teams closing in on them, abandoned the victims less than 24 hours after the abduction.
The victims were taken for medical treatment and have since been reunited with their families.
