The… Katsina State Police Command has said it succeeded in arresting six suspects in connection with a violent attack on villagers in Keku village, in Musawa Local Government Area.
A statement by spokesperson for the command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, said the incident occured on May 27 at about 2:00pm.
Aliyu said the suspects used stick and machetes to carry out the attack, which resulted in varying degrees of injuries on hapless villagers.
He, however, said prompt action by security operatives respondend alvy arresting the suspects, while those injured were taken to hospital for treatment.
“On Wednesday, 27th May 2026, at about 2:00 pm, a group of six men attacked residents of Keku Village, Musawa LGA, using sticks and machetes. The attack resulted in varying degrees of injuries to several villagers.
“Following the receipt of the report, operatives responded swiftly to the scene and successfully arrested the following suspects:
“Dayyabu Salisu, 25 years old, Usama Mansur, 23 years, Yunusa Nura, 27 years, Abdulmumini Alka, 23 years, Buhari Suleiman, 27 years, and Abubakar Safiyanu, 27 years.
“In connection with the offense, machetes, sticks, and motorcycles were recovered as exhibits.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects criminally conspired to disrupt the peaceful Sallah celebration and breach the relative peace being enjoyed in the area. The prompt response of VCRU personnel saved the situation from escalating further.
“The injured victims were rushed to the nearest hospital and are currently responding to treatment. The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Umar Fage, condemns the attack and assures the public that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property.
