Road crash claims one life in Niger
One person was confirmed dead while several others were injured in a road crash in Batati along the Bida-Mokwa road in Niger State.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday, September 8, involved an 18-seater bus carrying medical doctors from the University Teaching Hospital Ilorin, Kwara State.
The doctors were returning from a programme in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr Aliyu AbdullahiSabi, stopped at the scene to assist the victims.
An eyewitness confirmed to The Guardian that one person died at the scene, while others sustained varying degrees of injury.
According to the witness, the minister provided financial support for the treatment of the injured and directed the use of official vehicles from his entourage to evacuate survivors to the hospital.
Sabi also called on drivers to always adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations.
