‘Sack Ribadu, others over mishandling of Endbadgovernance protests’
A coalition of civil society organisations under the aegis of Network of Abuja Left Groups, has called for the immediate sack of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu over his handling of the #Endbadgovernance protests.
They also called on President Bola Tinubu to dismiss the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun and Director General Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, one of the leaders of the group, Omole Ibukun, called for the prosecution of security agents who shot and maimed peaceful protesters.
He said: “We call for the release all of those abducted by the NSA and the DSS for being part of the protests, including Micheal Lenin, Mosiu Sodiq, Angel, Comrade Opaoluwa and others
“Release and stop the unjust trial of protesters in the Northern part of the country who were incited to violence by the security forces.
“End all attempts to suppress the democratic rights of Nigerians to protests, whether the attacks on protesters and labour unions or through the draconian Counter-Subversion Bill 2024. Kill the Counter-Subversion Bill now.”
Ibukun expressed dismay that one week after some mobilisers of the #Endbadgovernance protests were arrested, they were kept incommunicado and yet to be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction.
While challenging advisers of President Tinubu to a debate on #Endbadgovernance protests, he threatened that Nigerians would hit the street indefinitely if their demands are not met.
