In a bid to ensure people do not go hungry, particularly the indigent, a non-governmental organisation, Sly Foundation, distributed food items to the dwellers of Ododegho community, Ughelli, Delta State.

The outreach which took place on Friday, December 24, had scores of people as beneficiaries. The food items distributed are rice, vegetable oil, onions, noodles, and many more, as the beneficiaries, trooped out to have their share of the gesture.

According to the founder of the foundation, Sylvester Omobor, the rationale behind the gesture is to ensure nobody stays hungry, especially at Yuletide.

“So, we decided to come out and share some food items to people without food. I feel that no one should go to bed hungry.

“We all know that food is a basic necessity of life but sad enough to see that most people in our immediate community can’t even afford food for themselves and loved us. We will be wrong to say they are lazy because people must at least eat first to have the strength and stamina to work.

“I achieved a lot from the outreach; most importantly, I got to meet new people, visit the sick ones and was able to care for them with medications and finance, by revisiting them. I chose that community because I have never been there and going there extends my hands in helping others. I am willing to go to the deepest parts of the world just to see others happy,” he said.

The beneficiaries, however, thanked their hosts, describing them as “God sent”.

Sly Foundation has, in recent times, embarked on several philanthropic outreaches which include paying medical bills of indigent patients and donating books and other educational materials to communities in Delta State.
