Members of resident communities in Sokoto State have commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for employing their children in the recent recruitment exercise conducted by the state government.
A statement signed by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Abubakar Bawa, said
“Prof. Hassan Akin, who spoke on behalf of the resident communities, made the commendation during a Sallah homage to the governor.
“Our children got their share of the recent massive recruitment exercise of 3,000 workers conducted by your government in the state,” he said.
He noted that the inclusion of children from resident communities in the recruitment exercise clearly “demonstrates Governor Aliyu’s all-inclusive leadership style, where everyone is considered important.”
He also praised the governor for the free education being enjoyed by their children .
He further lauded Governor Aliyu’s administration for the various forms of support extended to members of resident communities during festive periods and the month of Ramadan.
He appealed to the governor to assist the community with the construction of a secretariat and the provision of a vehicle to facilitate the smooth running of the association’s affairs.
Akin also assured Governor Aliyu of the total support of members of the resident communities for his second-term bid.
Responding, Aliyu announced the donation of a vehicle to the resident communities and assured them that the government would look into the request for the construction of a secretariat for the association.
The governor commended members of the resident communities for living peacefully with their host communities and urged them to sustain the cordial relationship.
“The development of every society depends largely on its ability to mix and intermingle with people of other tribes,” he said.
He also commended them for their contributions to the economic growth of the state and assured them that his administration would continue to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Aliyu thanked members of the resident communities for their consistent support for his administration.
