Suspected bandits attack security base, cart away properties in Oyo

Suspected bandits have attacked a security base of Operation Burst along the Igbeti-Igboho Road in Oyo State, setting the facility and an abandoned vehicle ablaze and carting away a generator and motorcycle.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., in an area linking Olorunsogo and Oorelope Local Government Areas of the state.

The Chairman of Olorunsogo Local Government Area, Kazeem Olayanju, who confirmed the incident, said no casualty was recorded during the attack.

According to him, the assailants burnt the security post constructed for the operatives and also set an abandoned vehicle at the location ablaze.

“The information is true. But there is no casualty. They burnt the security post we constructed for them.

“They also set ablaze an abandoned vehicle there. They also carted away their generator and motorcycle. It occurred today around 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.,” he said.

Operation Burst is a joint security outfit comprising officers of the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The outfit was established by the administration of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, as part of efforts to strengthen security and combat criminal activities across the state.
