The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Abimbola Olugbenga, has commenced a statewide operational tour of Area Commands as part of efforts to strengthen security, deepen community policing and reinforce collaboration with critical stakeholders across the state.

The tour, which began on Monday, has seen the police chief engage traditional rulers, community leaders and representatives of various interest groups to assess the prevailing security situation and explore measures aimed at preventing security breaches.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the engagements provided a platform for stakeholders to express their concerns while also reviewing existing security strategies to safeguard lives and property.

According to the statement, the operational tour also featured strategic meetings with commanders of sister security and partner agencies to enhance inter-agency collaboration, improve operational effectiveness and consolidate existing synergy in tackling crime and other security challenges.

The commissioner also met with local vigilante groups and community-based security volunteers, commending their contributions to grassroots security and reaffirming the Command’s commitment to a collaborative approach to policing.

The Command said the initiative forms part of its sustained efforts to strengthen security architecture across Oyo State through intelligence-led policing, stakeholder engagement and improved cooperation among security agencies and local communities.

It added that the Commissioner of Police remained committed to working with all relevant stakeholders to sustain peace, enhance public safety and ensure effective protection of lives and property across the state.
