Three people lost their lives while several others sustained injuries yesterday in a tragic accident at Ayetoro junction along the Lekki-Epe axis of Lagos state.
The incident occurred when a truck, reportedly descending from the Ita-Opo area, suffered a brake failure, leading to a collision with a tricycle and a stationary Toyota Camry at the traffic light.
Witnesses at the scene recounted how the truck, unable to stop, veered into the busy Ayetoro complex and market area, forcing residents and traders to flee for their lives.
The swift intervention of emergency responders, who arrived with a tow truck, helped clear the wreckage and ease the resulting traffic congestion.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed that the bodies of the three victims have been deposited at the Epe General Hospital morgue.
A LASTMA official stated, “Three lives were lost, and they have been taken to the morgue at Epe General Hospital. We also deployed a tow truck to remove the affected vehicles and diverted traffic to facilitate smoother movement.”
