Ahead of the forthcoming 2026 gubernatorial poll in Osun, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun West Senatorial District, on Wednesday endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term in office.

They attributed their resolve to back Adeleke for a second term to his laudable performance in providing responsive leadership at the governance level and delivering democratic dividends to the citizens of the state.

Rising from the zonal meeting of the party hosted by the lawmaker representing Osun Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Lere Oyewumi, the party expressed optimism that with the support of the masses, who have benefited from the socioeconomic impacts of the governor’s infrastructural projects, PDP’s victory in 2026 poll is guaranteed.

The motion for the endorsement of Adeleke for second term was moved by the chairman of the party in Iwo Local Government, Mr Alidu Adeoye, who was seconded by former legal adviser of the PDP in Osun State, Ebenezer Bolarinwa.

Others, who co-seconded the motion include former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, representing the elders, Honourable Mudashiru Lukman, Mrs Atinuke Oyawoye.

While expantiating on the reasons for the endorsement, Adeoye said, “Having reviewed the many landmark achievements of Mr Governor which cut across all the sectors within a space of two years, we concluded that the governor’s second term ticket should be automatic.”

Accepting the nomination and the endorsement on behalf of Adeleke, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye thanked the party elders and the executives for the confidence reposed in Mr Governor to stand as the party’s candidate for the 2026 poll.

He, however, plegded the sustained support of the governor for good governance and his five point agenda, all within the framework of the PDP manifestoes, just as he assured party members of more “masses-oriented policies and projects if Adeleke is re-elected in 2026.

“Mr Governor is elated by this endorsement and he humbly accepts it as a further call for him to serve the good people of Osun State. He will build on his present successes to provide good leadership for the state till 2030,” Akinleye remarked.
