Jealousy eventually turned bloody as 25-years-old Maimunatu Idris was said to have stabbed her boyfriend in the genital over his plan to marry another woman in Kano State.
Meanwhile, one Abubakar Ali of Sheka quarters in the Municipal Local Government Area of Kano has been beaten to death for allegedly seducing a married woman.
Maimunatu was found with a sharp knife with her boyfriend in a pool of blood gushing out from the victim’s manhood.
According to the police spokesperson, Haruna Abdullahi Kiyawa, Maimunatu who is now cooling her heels in custody after confessing that she had severely inflicted injury to her boyfriend’s genitals.
“A report was received from the Management of Durbar Hotel, Badawa, that one Maimunatu Idris ‘f’, 25 years, of Maigatari LGA, Jigawa State, allegedly attacked her boyfriend with a sharp knife after discovering his intention to marry another woman,” the statement read.
“During the attack, the suspect severed the victim’s manhood. Upon receipt of the information, the Divisional Police Officer, Badawa Division, led a team of detectives to the scene.
“The suspect was arrested and the weapon, a sharp knife, was recovered as exhibits. The victim was immediately rushed to Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital for medical treatment. He is currently receiving care. Investigation is ongoing”. Police spokesperson said
Similarly, the police confirmed the arrest of three persons for alleged culpable homicide after beating a man to death.
According to the police, the three suspects Abubakar Auwalu, Sulaiman Lawan and Hafsat Umar had accused the victim (name withheld) of illegal romance with Hafsat Umar who is married to one Abubakar Ali in their Sheka quarters.
The victim was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano for medical treatment, where he was unfortunately confirmed dead.
Police revealed that the corpse of the victim has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy as investigation into the matter commenced.
“On 24th July, 2026 at about 1200hrs, a report was received at Sheka Division that one Abubakar Auwal ‘m’, 30 years, was allegedly lured by Abubakar Ali ‘m’ 40 years old, and one Sulaiman Lawan, ‘m’, 27 years old, and other persons over an allegation of enticing married woman, the wife of Abubakar Ali,” the statement read.
“Upon receipt of the report, operatives attached to Sheka Police Division were immediately detailed to the scene. On arrival, the victim was found to have been brutally assaulted and beaten into a comatose state,” Kiyawa said.
Meanwhile the Police Commissioner CP Adamu Bakori has warned members of the public to desist from taking the law into their own hands under any guise, insisting that the Police Force is constitutionally empowered to investigate, arrest, and prosecute offenders through due process.
The CP further assures the good people of Kano State that the Command will conduct diligent, transparent, and thorough investigations into both cases noting that suspects will be arraigned in court and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He urges residents to continue to provide timely and credible information to the Police and to report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police Station or through the Command’s emergency lines.
