Woman dies, two injured as FUT Minna registrar escapes death in road crash

The Registrar of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna), Mallam Danladi has survived a road accident in Minna, Niger State, in which a woman was killed and two other people sustained injuries.

The accident occurred on Sunday, August 23, 2026, along I.E.T. New Horizons Road, around the Old Airport Quarters area of Minna, the state capital.

A source who confirmed the incident said the deceased, identified as Aisha Ahmed, was at the scene when the vehicle conveying the registrar reportedly lost control.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred after one of the vehicle’s tyres burst while it was in motion. The vehicle reportedly veered off the road and struck Ahmed and a commercial motorcyclist.

The witnesses said Ahmed was negotiating a fare with the motorcyclist when the vehicle suddenly rammed into them.

Residents and passers-by immediately rushed the victims to the Senator Idris Kuta Primary Health Care Centre in Old Airport Quarters, where Ahmed was later confirmed dead.

The motorcyclist and another person were reportedly referred to a nearby hospital for further treatment and were said to be responding to treatment.

The registrar, who was also said to have become unconscious following the shock of the crash, was taken to a hospital for medical attention.

He was reportedly in stable condition at the time of filing this report.

Efforts to obtain comments from relevant authorities on the accident were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
