Zamfara State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, has issued a stern warning to doctors at the General Hospital, Gusau, following their absence during an unscheduled inspection.
Dr. Maradun, who paid a surprise visit to the facility on Wednesday, expressed shock that no doctor was on duty—a repeat of what she observed during a previous inspection.
Describing the development as unacceptable, the Commissioner warned that doctors unwilling to comply with professional ethics and government regulations should resign rather than undermine the state’s healthcare system.
“If they can’t comply, they should quit or face the consequences from the state government,” she declared.
She emphasized that the government would not hesitate to take disciplinary action against erring medical personnel, stressing that patient welfare must remain the top priority.
