The Zamfara State Police Command has stated that one of the abducted seven students of the Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda has been rescued.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Spokesman of the State Police Command, DSP Yazid Abubakar, and made available to newsmen in Gusau, the State capital.
The statement noted that, on 3rd June 2026, at about 0400hrs, information was received from a reliable source that unknown armed bandits stormed and attacked rented student accommodations located on the outskirts of the Low-Cost area in Kaura Namoda LGA, during the attack, the gunmen abducted seven students and took them to an unknown destination.
“Upon receipt of the report, Joint Police Tactical Teams and Military personnel attached to Operation Fansar Yamma OPFY, based in Kaura Namoda, were immediately mobilized to the scene”, the statement added.
“However, the hoodlums fled before the arrival of the security operatives. One of the abducted students managed to escape and has since been reunited with the authorities.
“Meanwhile, security forces have intensified search-and-rescue operations, and all hands are on deck to ensure the safe release of the remaining abducted victims. Efforts are also ongoing to track down and apprehend the perpetrators of this criminal act.
“The Command urges members of the public to remain calm and continue to support security agencies with credible and timely information that may assist ongoing operations.”
