Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has approved the disbursement of ₦568,288,925.82 as terminal benefits to the families of deceased pensioners who were primary school teachers and local government staff in the state. This relief initiative aims to support bereaved families and honour the state’s financial commitments to retirees.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by Akibu Ibrahim, the Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pension Bureau, who urged relatives of the deceased to visit the bureau’s office for eligibility verification and to complete necessary documentation.
The statement emphasised Adeleke’s focus on the welfare of Osun State citizens, highlighting his administration’s efforts to clear inherited debts, including salary and pension backlogs owed to retirees.
“This sum will be distributed to the families of 602 deceased retirees who served as local government staff and primary school teachers under the old pension scheme,” the statement read, noting that relatives should complete their documentation at the Local Government Staff Pension Bureau to receive the benefits. This initiative reflects Governor Adeleke’s commitment to the state’s civil service community, both active and retired.
