Emeka Offor hails Tinubu for education reforms
Businessman and philanthropist, Dr. Emeka Offor, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for making significant strides in the nation’s education sector.
Offor said this shortly after being conferred with an honorary Doctorate by the Nile University of Nigeria in Abuja during the institution’s 12th Convocation Ceremony. Offor reiterated his call for sustained and enhanced government efforts in education.
The businessman, who highlighted his contributions to the national and international business landscape, called for consistency and innovation in addressing the sector’s challenges.
He said: “The present administration has made significant progress compared to past administrations, which struggled to address student education effectively. Notably, the current administration has introduced student loans to support students.
“There has not been any industrial action for the past one year and lecturers are now being paid regularly and issues of education are now on the front burner of this government.”
According to him, such efforts would better equip the nation’s youth with the skills and knowledge required for a prosperous future, adding that, “The government needs to come up with more investment in the area of education to make it better.”
The awardee Offor also praised Nile University of Nigeria, for maintaining its high standards as a private institution, he expressed confidence in the quality of its lecturers and the caliber of graduates it consistently produces.
Also, the Executive Vice President of the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, Barrister Adaora Offor commended Nile University’s leadership on behalf of the foundation.
She noted that the recognition of Sir Offor’s efforts by the institution would motivate him to continue contributing to societal development, describing the gesture as “rewarding good with good.”
The convocation ceremony also honored other prominent Nigerians, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and petroleum business mogul, Auwalu Abdullahi Rano.
