Group seeks free education nationwide
Imo Youths for Positive Change, a social-political organisation in the state, has advocated the introduction of free education programme across the country.
The group, which also enjoined the Federal Government to formulate policy that would facilitate it, urged the state’s governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha, to emulate outgoing Governor Rochas Okorocha’s efforts in education.
The group’s spokesperson, Chidiebere Ukonu, who stated this at a press conference in Owerri, the state capital at the weekend, said education remained pivotal for the overall growth and development of any state or nation.
“It is our desire that the incoming governor would sustain this free education policy. Other state governors should equally introduce free education programme up to university level in their respective states,” he said.
