Kano State House of Assembly, yesterday, approved the request by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to shop for N20 billion loan locally.

Kano State House of Assembly, yesterday, approved the request by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to shop for N20 billion loan locally.

The facility is to be sourced from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the United Bank for Africa (UBA).

Reading the correspondence during plenary, the Speaker, Abdulazeez Garba-Gafasa, said the credit was to cover expenses occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Consequently, the lawmakers unanimously granted the proposal.

The Majority Leader, Hassan-Dashi, later told reporters that the approval followed the governor’s failure to access the capital market due to prevailing economic realities.
