LASTMA arrests toll van driver for impersonation
Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has arrested a towing van driver, Adejumo Fatai, for posing as one of the agency’s towing van operators with fake identity card and LASTMA tow franchisee’s sticker.
Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, who disclosed this, in a statement, said Fatai is currently at Pedro Police Station for further investigation.
He debunked allegations that its officials are using towing van to steal vehicles in Somolu area of the state.Taofiq said the driver of the towing vehicle was not an official of LASTMA.
According to him, the attention of the agency was drawn to a video circulating on social media, alleging the use of a LASTMA towing van to steal a vehicle as early as 6:00 a..m. at Somolu area of Lagos.
He said: “It is important to inform the public, particularly motoring public, that the driver (Adejumo Fatai) has been apprehended and currently at Pedro Police Station for further investigation.
“Investigations revealed that the arrested towing van driver impersonated one of the LASTMA towing van operators with a fake identity card and fake LASTMA tow franchisee’s sticker.
“The General Manager of LASTMA, Bolaji Oreagba, however, implores members of the public to be wary of these unscrupulous elements trying to dent the image of the agency.”
