Militias sack Taraba community, kill village head, Imam, others

Few days after the gruesome murder of a Christian cleric, Emmanuel Saba Bileya and his wife, Juliana by militias in Taraba State, a village head and an Islamic cleric had been killed by suspected militias.

Both, as gathered by The Guardian, yesterday, were killed in their Bagoni Village, Bali Local Council, in a midnight attack carried out on the village by the suspected militias 

Also, three persons were killed in another separate attack that occurred at Wurbo Village in the same council.

Both attacks, it was gathered, led to massive residents exodus to the council’s administrative headquarters.

Similar incident, it was learnt, was reported in Tunga Village of the same council, where several persons were confirmed killed 

During the different attacks, houses and valuables worth several millions of naira were said to have been destroyed, with farm produce and domestic animals looted by the militias.

A resident of one of the attacked villages claimed the attacks were a product of the Tiv and Jukun ethnic groups crisis. 

Information has it that there were plans of reprisal attacks by youths from both ends.
