The former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, on Wednesday, said that President Ahmed Tinubu has taken hard decisions toward reducing the economic hardship facing the country, adding that if he were the President, he would not have the boldness and courage to take such decisions.
The former governor made the statement in Ekoli, Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State while interacting with journalists during his New Year visit to one of his political sons, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ebonyi State chapter, Stanley Emegha.
He said that the President has taken critical decisions which ordinarily he, Kalu, could not take if he were the President, pleading with the people to be patient with the Tinubu-led administration.
He added that Nigeria, as a nation, is facing serious hardship since the inception of the President Tinubu-led administration but expressed optimism that there would be a green light at the end of the tunnel.
His words: “There is hope for the Nigerian citizens, and let me be honest with you: President Tinubu is working very hard to reduce this hunger.
“Nigerians are hungry, and I know that they are hungry, but he’s working hard because the decision taken by Mr. President is the decision for economic development.”
“It might be very hard, very, very hard, but President Tinubu is very bold to tackle hunger head-on, and I would not even take that kind of decision if I were the president of the country.”
“He is bold enough to let Nigerian people know that we are naked economically. So I think, even though Nigerian people are sad because of the economic hardship, they should be patient because we shall see the green light at the end of the tunnel,” Kalu said.
The Senator commended Governor Francis Nwifuru for endorsing the APC Chairman in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, for his second term in office, and described the decision as a welcome development.
“I’m very happy with the governor of Ebonyi State for endorsing him for the second term in his office. I’m planning to come and thank him with the Chinese investors. I know that the governor is a hardworking person, and if he had endorsed him, it is a very good development,” he said.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ebonyi State chapter, Chief Emegha, commended Governor Nwifuru for endorsing him, as he felicitated with the Ebonyi first family and the citizens of the state during the 2025 New Year celebration.
He called for massive support for the present administration at the state and national levels while expressing belief that this year would usher in economic fortune for the citizens.
He assured of wooing more political gladiators and their supporters who are still in opposition parties to join the APC in his pursuit to build a formidable front ahead of the 2027 elections for the actualization of a united and prosperous Ebonyi State.
