Bartholomew Onyeka, on Monday assumed duty as the 42nd Commissioner of Police for Plateau.

ASP Ubah Ogaba, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), of the command disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Jos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Alkali, had deployed Onyeka to the state.

Onyeka replaced CP Edward Egbuka, who has been redeployed to the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

According to Ogaba, Onyeka, who hails from Imo state joined the force as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in
March 1990.

“He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Panjab University Chandigarh, Patiala, and Master of Art Degree in Defence Studies all from the Punjab University, India.

“He attended several Tactical and Leadership courses within and outside Nigeria, including Senior Leadership and Command Course (SLCC), Intermediate Command Course, Advance Detective Course, Junior Command Course, Train the Trainers Course Central Planning and Training Unit at Police Staff College, Jos.

“Other courses he attended include, the Financial Malpractices Investigation Course; and Armed Conflict Management Course, Jaji, Kaduna state, Citizenship and Leadership Course, Shere hills, Jos, Management Workshop organised by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), and Police Reforms and Conflict Transformation course.

“He has served in various operational, investigative and administrative capacities in Bauchi, Anambra, Imo, Lagos, Bayelsa Abia, Zamfara State commands, Zone 1 Headquarters, Kano and Force Headquarters, Abuja,”the PPRO said.
