The paramount ruler of Iwoland in Osun State, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, yesterday, lamented the deplorable condition of Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road and appealed to the state government to urgently commence its reconstruction.

The monarch said that traders, who should have travelled to Osun State to improve its economic status, had been avoiding it because of the poor condition of the road, which he said, had been causing many accidents.

The Oluwo, in a statement by his Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, said: “Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan road is the economic lifewire of Osun State and in particular, Osun West Senatorial District, in terms of road networks. That is the only straight road connecting Lagos and Ibadan with Osun State. Its economic advantage to Nigeria and the geo-political zone is enormous.”

“While I commend the government of both Osun and Oyo states for the bilateral understanding that aided the approval, I appeal to Osun State government to wait no more. The two are wonderful governors whose performances are enviable. They have set a pace for other leaders to follow. So, party affiliation should be set aside when development is involved.
