Police arrest robbers in Kogi during third-party insurance enforcement
The Kogi State Police Command said it has arrested two suspected armed robbers along Anyigba-Egume road in Dekina local government of Kogi State.
The suspected armed robbers were reportedly arrested at a checking point during the nationwide Third-Party Insurance policy enforcement exercise.
Police spokesman, William Ovye, confirmed the arrest in a statement in Lokoja.
“In line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, on the enforcement of Third-Party Insurance across the Federation, operatives of the Ayingba Division, while conducting the exercise along Harbour Bay-Egume Road, intercepted two young men identified as Mohammed Chelim and Oneh Mohammed both of Olubojo street on a motorcycle who exhibited suspicious behavior,” Ovye said.
“Upon interrogation, the suspects failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for their movements. A subsequent search led to the recovery of a locally made pistol in their possession.”
Commending the Officers for their vigilance and commitment to duty, the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, reassured the people of Kogi State that the Command remains resolute in collaborating with other security agencies to rid the State of criminal elements.
He urged residents to continue supporting security by providing credible information on criminal activities.
