Police declare Portable wanted for alleged assault on Ogun urban devt officials
The Ogun State Police Command has declared controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, wanted for allegedly leading a violent attack on government officials carrying out their lawful duties.
The Guardian learnt that the attack occurred on February 5, 2025, at about 10:00 a.m., when officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office, were conducting an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota.
The officials, identified as Onabanjo Abidemi, Raymond Lateef, and Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi, were enforcing compliance with building regulations when they met an elderly man, later identified as Portable’s father, at Odogwu Bar in the area. Upon requesting the approved building plan, the man informed them that his son was unavailable.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Monday night, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, said Portable later arrived at the scene, armed with a firearm and accompanied by nine thugs. They attacked the unarmed officials, who sustained injuries but managed to escape and report the incident to the Ota Area Command. The case was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
Odutola disclosed that nine accomplices were arrested, but Portable fled the scene and has since gone into hiding. She noted that the police had sent multiple invitations requesting his presence at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, all of which he ignored without cause or legal representation.
“Following his repeated evasion, the Ogun State Police Command has obtained a valid court order declaring him wanted,” Odutola said. She urged members of the public to assist the police by providing any information that could lead to Portable’s arrest, warning that anyone found aiding or harbouring the suspect would face legal consequences.
“For any relevant information, kindly report to the nearest police station or contact the Ogun State Police Command through its official communication channels or public relations department,” she added.
