David Onilude, a 23-year-old technology entrepreneur, has been honoured with the prestigious Diana Award, which recognizes young people aged 9-25 for their social action and humanitarian efforts.
The award, established in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, celebrates exceptional contributions to entrepreneurship and social impact.
Onilude received a congratulatory letter from Kensington Palace, informing him of his selection as one of the awardees.
“I’m thrilled to receive this recognition. Growing up in a rural community like Badagry, I was driven to succeed despite the limited opportunities available,” Onilude, a graduate of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, said. “I believe that technology has the power to transform lives and communities. I’m committed to creating opportunities for young people in rural communities to access technology and unlock their full potential.”

Onilude is the founder of Tech Now Global, a non-profit organisation dedicated to improving digital inclusion and quality education for young people in rural Nigeria. He stressed the transformative role of technology in bridging the gap between rural and urban areas.

“Technology has the potential to bridge the gap between rural and urban communities. I want to expose young people to opportunities in technology, train them, and empower them to become active participants in the digital economy,” Onilude said.

Tech Now Global has helped hundreds of youth through programs like boot camps, community outreach, and tailored training, improving their digital skills and career prospects. The organisation has impacted over 32 communities and 102 schools across Africa.

David is also the co-founder of Beere Software, where he applies his expertise in software development to create solutions that benefit businesses and individuals. His work has earned him several accolades, including sponsorship by the Lagos State Government for a leadership program and certification as a leadership fellow from the Management Institute of Finland.

Onilude is an Ashoka Young Changemaker, a Future Awards Africa Nominee, and a Teen Vogue 21 Under 21 Honoree. He plans to continue empowering his community through technology-based initiatives.
