Yusuf, Sanusi, Kwankwaso lead funeral prayers for Galadima Sunusi

A senior councilor and oldest Kingmaker in Kano emirate, the late Abbas Sanusi, was laid to rest on Wednesday at Gandu Albasa quarters’ cemetery in the metropolis amid a crowd of sympathisers.

Prior to the final journey to the cemetery, members of the royal family led by the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf and Deputy Senate President, Sen. Barau Jibrin joined hundreds of mourners in a funeral prayer for the late Galadima Kano at emir palace.

The funeral prayers were led by the Chief Imam of Kano, Professor Sani Zahradeen, with other top dignitaries.

Sanusi, a traditional title holder in Kano emirate and father of the Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Prince Abdullahi Abbas Sanusi, passed away at the age of 91 in Kano, Tuesday night after a protracted illness.

Sanusi was a prominent figure in the Emirate, serving as Wamban Kano and senior Councilor under the late Emir Alhaji Ado Bayero.

He served under the late Emir Alhaji Ado Bayero, who reigned from 1963 to 2020.
He is survived by his wives and 35 children, including Abdullahi Abbas, chairman of the APC in Kano State.
