In a gesture to mark the 2024 Christmas festivities, Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, Chief of Army Staff, joined frontline troops for a special luncheon on December 25, 2025.
The event took place at the Headquarters of Operation Safe Haven in Jos, Plateau State, with Major General MS Ahmed, Commander Armoured Corps, representing General Oluyede.
During the luncheon, Major General Ahmed delivered a goodwill message, extending Christmas greetings to the officers, soldiers, and their families. He stressed the gratitude of the Army Chief for their dedicated service and sacrifices in addressing Nigeria’s pressing security challenges, encouraging the troops to maintain focus, discipline, and loyalty.
Oluyede expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support and guidance, reiterating the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity and national interests. He vowed that the army would remain resolute in executing its constitutional responsibilities within a collaborative multi-agency framework.
Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Safe Haven acknowledged the troops’ exceptional operational achievements over the past year. He called for renewed diligence as challenges in the Joint Operations Area demand constant vigilance and unwavering dedication.
The GOC highlighted the importance of discipline, loyalty, and professionalism during the festive season. He also recognised the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General CG Musa, and General Oluyede for their role in guiding the 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven toward significant operational successes.
The event was well attended, featuring various dignitaries, including heads of security agencies, retired military officers, and government officials.
Cultural performances, a Christmas cake-cutting ceremony, and other festive activities enriched the occasion, fostering camaraderie among troops and community members.
