No fewer than 610 Nigerian Army soldiers from various formations across the country have commenced the 2025 Warrant Officers Promotional Training at the Federal Road Safety Corps Academy, Udi, in Enugu State.
The two-week training encompasses a comprehensive programme, including medical examinations, physical drills, weapon handling, written assessments, computer tests for clerical personnel, and oral interviews.
The Chief of Personnel Management at Army Headquarters, Major-General Adewale Adekeye, officially opened the exercise on Sunday, cautioning participants against the use of drugs or performance-enhancing supplements.
He noted that many of the soldiers attending the training are over 50 years of age, and such substances could be detrimental to both their health and performance.
Maj.-Gen. Adekeye stated, “We want to congratulate you for attaining this feat as well as appreciate the hard work, efficiency and loyalty you have put into your career in the Nigerian Army. The Nigerian Army Warrant Officers Promotional Board members will be strictly objective and score you according to your performance. You must display discipline and professionalism each day and in each activity you engage in. Do not cheat in any way as it will adversely affect you.”
He further described the responsibilities of a Nigerian Army Warrant Officer as substantial, emphasising that only candidates who demonstrate merit and performance would be promoted.
Adekeye also acknowledged the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Olufemi Oluyede, for his guidance, support, and provision of funding for the exercise.
Earlier, the General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye, encouraged the soldiers to maintain discipline and focus throughout the training. He affirmed that the welfare and security of all participants were priorities for the division and expressed confidence in the impartiality of the promotion board.
The training involves master warrant officers preparing for promotion to the rank of Nigerian Army warrant officer.
