The Nigerian Army has said that it would continue to adopt kinetic and non-kinetic operations in solving the insecurity the country is grappling with.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, who stated this during the commissioning ceremony of his special intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Project executed in honour of the Commander, Nigeria Army Ordnance Corps, Major General Jonathan Ugwuoke, said that the army was making headway in the fight against insecurity.
He explained that the execution of quick impact projects across Nigeria is an important component of the non-kinetic line of operations, stressing that the projects are designed to provide succour to communities where troops are deployed to conduct operations.
“The projects also complement the facilities provided by government and other well meaning individuals and organisations,” he added
Lagbaja stated that the renovated and remodeled one-storey building of 10 classrooms in Community Secondary School, Mbu, in Isiuzo Local Council of Enugu State in honour of Ugwuoke was a reaffirmation of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to developing the youth into future leaders through provision of quality educational infrastructure and conductive learning environment.
He lauded the people of Isi-Uzo Local Council and Enugu State for their relentless support, leading to the successes recorded by the Nigerian Army in its operations and humanitarian impact projects.
Lagbaja, represented by the GOC 82 Division, Maj. Gen. Hassan Dada, encouraged the people of the state to continue to support the Nigerian Army and get recruited to the Nigerian Army at different levels “to serve our great country”.
He explained that the COAS Special Intervention Project was meant to improve civil-military relations and bring relief and succour to host communities as well as connect serving top officers to development within their communities of origin.
Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, represented by the Deputy Governor, Ifeanyi Ossai, commended the execution of the project, saying it was a step forward in the civil-military relationship.
The governor appreciated the COAS, GOC, commanders and troops for their commitment to keeping the country safe, especially Enugu State, adding that “the Nigerian Army remains the pride of the country”.
The Project Executor, Maj.-Gen. Ugwuoke, commended the COAS for approving and funding the impactful project for educational advancement of students of the community and lifting the financial burden of renovating the school off the people.
