Nigerians abroad to actively participate in 2023 elections
As campaigns for the 2023 general lections are about to take off, Nigerians abroad, under the auspices of Nigeria Leadership Search (NLS), have confirmed to actively participate in the exercise.
Prince Samuel Anwuzia, who had served the Nigerian Community in London, while speaking on behalf of the group, noted that the coming elections were significant to the lives of the citizens.
To him, the zeal the polls have so far generated underscores the importance of current political process and future of the country.
“The coming elections speak to the future, hopes and aspirations of every Nigerian at home and abroad. As Nigerians abroad, we cannot allow ourselves to be left out. From the remittances Nigeria make from us to service the economy, it will be a disservice to disenfranchise us from this all-important political process,” he said.
Acknowledging that the Electoral Act 2022 does not allow for diaspora voting, Anwuzia, who is convener of the group, said an improvised process could be applied for now pending when the Constitution could allow for such.
