Nigeria’s Mudasiru wins global recognition in Russia

Dr. Bola Mudasiru

The Deputy National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Highway and Transportation Engineers (NIHTE), Dr. Bola Mudasiru, on Friday, received global recognition at Russia’s first International Transport and Logistics Forum.

The International Transport and Logistics Forum (ITLF) committee praised Mudasiru for his “support and active participation” during the St. Petersburg forum held last week, which brought together delegates from more than 80 countries to address global logistics disruptions.

The recognition came at Russia’s inaugural International Transport and Logistics Forum as Nigeria continues to expand its footprint in global transport diplomacy.

The event was organised by Russia’s Ministry of Transport and co-hosted by the Roscongress Foundation.

Mudasiru was part of a five-member FAEO delegation led by President Refilwe Buthelezi, a sign Africa now helps write global transport rules, not just follow them.

Mudasiru said: “Africa is no longer on the sidelines. We must build alternative corridors to cut our exposure to shipping shocks from Middle East crises.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a video message to participants, said Moscow was seeking partners to stabilise logistics networks. For Nigeria, such cooperation could help reduce dependence on vulnerable maritime routes.

On the sidelines, FAEO met Russia’s AVTODOR to advance an MoU on toll roads, corridor management, and construction tech transfer.

NIHTE said the honour proves Nigerian engineers are now “global contributors, not spectators.”
