Nigeria’s public asset base hits over $300bn-Bindawa

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission, Major General Junaid Bindawa has stated explicitly that Nigeria’s public asset base has hit over $300billion,yet it still remains largely unvalued, while global and local trends are expanding their values.

Speaking at 2026 Valuers Assembly in Abuja, Bindawa added that this is a window for estate surveyors and valuers in assets to dive in to deliver reliable mass appraisal systems that can increase the internally generated revenue for states without increasing tax rates.

He argued that real estate profession, and especially valuation,is no longer a transactional service, rather a necessary infrastructure for economic development and investment decision -making tool.

According to him, without credible valuation, capital will not flow, without capital, development will not take place. The frontier of real estate services has expanded greatly over the last decades. For instance, strategic partnership is learned through credibility.
