Nile Group breaks barriers with female-led executive team

Newly announced media and entertainment company, Nile Group is proud to announce the formation of its female-led executive team that would move the group to unique and great heights.

The female-led executive team, a cadre of highly accomplished professionals has excelled in their respective fields.

Each member brings a unique set of skills and experiences, contributing to the strategic decision-making process and driving the company’s growth and success.

The new executive team includes: Biola Soken, who has been appointed Group Executive Director for the Nile Group, Lolu Desalu has been appointed Group Executive Director of Nile Group, Nowekere Alexis Segun-Ojo has been appointed General Manager of distribution & Marketing for Nile Entertainment, Abimbola Craig has been appointed Vice President, Productions and Bukky George-Taylor has been appointed Vice President, Luxury Entertainment, Nile X

Biola Sokenu, leading an expanded portfolio, is an icon in the entertainment industry, with a career spanning over two decades. She has been instrumental in driving financial strategy and growth for some of the world’s most renowned media companies. Under her guidance, companies have achieved unprecedented results. Her impressive portfolio includes Netflix, BBC, and MTV, where she has expertly navigated the intersection of creativity and commerce. Before her role as Executive Director for the Nile Group, she led the financial operations at Fleet River Productions Ltd, managing the finance of Netflix’s The Diplomat S2. BioYellow Sun has worked on over 27 titles including independent films such as Eyimofe, Nigerian Prince, Half of a Yellow Sun,n and TV Shows like MTV Shuga, Louie Season 1 &,2 and Grand Designs. Biola Sokenu’s unique ability to balance artistic vision with financial acumen has made her an invaluable asset to the industry.

Lolu Desalu, a seasoned marketing guru with over 18 years of experience, has championed business strategy, brand building, and strategic partnerships across various industries including entertainment, banking, gaming, and technology. Before joining Nile Group as the Board’s Director, Lolu led successful initiatives, including the creation of brand assets and the go-to-market strategy for Sterling Bank’s AltBank, addressing concerns for underbanked individuals. She spearheaded projects such as The Film Gala with Moet & Chandon.

She also served as Chief Marketing Officer at Filmhouse Group, leading the highest-grossing cinema marketing team, spearheading notable West African campaigns for numerous high-profile films, and playing a pivotal role in bringing international films to Nigerian audiences, contributing to the growth of the local film industry and the expansion of cinema culture in the region.

Nowekere Alexis C.I. Segun-Ojo will oversee Distribution and Marketing for Nile Entertainment both locally and internationally. With over 13 years of expertise in public relations, brand strategy, and strategic communication, her impressive career trajectory showcases exceptional leadership and a proven track record of driving growth and innovation. Before utilizing her appointment at Nile Entertainment, she served as the Group PR & Communications Manager for Filmhouse Group.

In her new role, Nowe will focus on building international partnerships and utilising diverse distribution channels to maximise the global reach of African content. She will position the company and its films as high-quality, unique content providers, develop tailored marketing campaigns, and ensure cultural authenticity.

Additionally, she will lead the Nile Foundation, which is dedicated to fostering community development through film by supporting educational programs, cultural initiatives, and social projects.

Abimbola Roli Craig, an outstanding filmmaker, producer, and media executive with a proven track record of delivering high-quality content to global audiences, will assume the role of Vice President of production of productions. Abimbola transitioned from her law career, having practised for five years after earning her degree from the University of Buckingham. Abimbola transitioned to the creative industry in 2014 working at NdaniTV. In 2020 she exited the company as Head of Production to become an independent filmmaker.

” As an independent producer, Abimbola co-produced the blockbuster movie “Sugar Rush” and most recently, co-produced Nigeria’s first-ever reality show, “Real Housewives of Lagos.” Additionally, she made her Netflix debut by producing. She cast directing “Glamour Girls,” a Nollywood classic that became the first Nigerian movie on Netflix to reach the top 10 movie list globally. She is an experienced creative with a penchant for short and long-form content creation. With over 10 years of experience, her attention to detail is exceptional. With a wealth of knowledge and skill in all aspects of production, Abimbola continues to make a significant impact in the Nigerian film industry.

Bukky George-Taylor joins Nile Group as Vice President, of Luxury Entertainment, Nile Cinemas. Her role will focus on delivering a luxury cinema experience through Nile Cinema and Nile X. Bukky is a seasoned Strategic Communications and Special Events Expert, Public Speaker, and Entrepreneurial Coach with extensive experience in both Corporate America and Canada. She founded The Bobby Taylor Company in Canada, which later evolved into the prominent Robert Taylor Media agency. She also serves as a Director of The Lagos Today Newspaper, one of Nigeria’s pioneering digital publications. Additionally, she co-founded CRAWL, Africa’s leading Social Calendar App, promoting tourism across major African cities. Bukky’s achievements have earned her recognition as a MIPAD Global Top 100 under 40 honoree in support of the United Nations, acknowledging her impact on Media and Culture in Africa.
