The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is set to deploy a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom as part of efforts to ease delays and streamline passport services for Nigerians living in the country.

 

The intervention team, acting on the directive of the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is expected to arrive in the UK on August 10, 2026, and work with the Nigerian High Commission to process pending, new and renewal passport applications.

 

The team will also visit designated cities across the UK to conduct passport enrolment and processing, giving eligible applicants in different parts of the country access to the exercise.

 

The NIS said the intervention is open to Nigerians with pending passport applications, new applicants and holders whose passports have less than one year remaining before expiry. Applicants are expected to present their completed application forms and proof of payment during enrolment.

 

However, the Service advised applicants not to travel to any location until the official schedule, including the dates, venues and designated cities, is released. Existing NIS digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, will remain operational, while home delivery services will also continue.
