The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) said its digital literacy dashboard has captured about 2.76 million training achievements since January 2022.
Pointing to the need for more inclusive digital skills programmes, however, the agency noted that women account for only 32.9 per cent of the recorded participation even as Nigeria targets 70 per cent digital literacy by 2027, and 95 per cent by 2030.
Speaking yesterday in Abuja at the 2026 National Digital Literacy Workshop, NITDA Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, said 248 organisations were reporting their interventions through the dashboard, with records covering all 774 local council areas in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Abdullahi explained that the agency was not merely introducing another technology platform but strengthening the foundation of evidence-based human capital development.
He added that the dashboard would help the government identify gaps in digital skills training, reduce duplication of interventions and direct resources to underserved communities.
Noting that several federal and state agencies, technology companies, educational institutions and development partners were implementing digital literacy programmes, he urged them to register on the dashboard, submit credible information about their programmes and update their records regularly.
Also, the Acting Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Adetunji Adeyemo, called for stronger collaboration among governments, educational institutions and other development partners to achieve the national targets.
