No scarcity of passport booklets, says NIS

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), says it is not experiencing any scarcity of passport booklets.The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, who disclosed this yesterday in a statement in Abuja, said the clarification become necessary to avoid tension and anxiety among the general public concerning the availability of passport booklets.

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), says it is not experiencing any scarcity of passport booklets.The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, who disclosed this yesterday in a statement in Abuja, said the clarification become necessary to avoid tension and anxiety among the general public concerning the availability of passport booklets.

“This statement in against the backdrop of interviews credited to some individuals alleging scarcity of passport booklets, which is simply an expression of personal opinion and not that of the NIS.

“We have as a matter of acceptable standard practice procedures, informed the public adequately on any scarcity of any of our facilities including passports.The Comptroller General disclosed that in compliance with the Presidential Orders on transparency, any applicant who could not be issued passports due to any reasons including scarcity of booklets would be informed in writing.

Babandede, however, informed members of the public, including passport applicants to disregard the rumour if scarcity if booklets and go to any NIS passport issuing centers nearest to them to process their applications.
