Sequel to the approval of the national Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD) for the national housing census by President Buhari, the National Population Commission (NPC) with the support of the Lagos State government has begun to conduct phase 12 in Ikorodu.

The exercise would take about six weeks and will be carried out in Ikorodu Local Government Area, Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ijede LCDA, Imota LCDA, Ikorodu West LCDA and Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.

Speaking during an interactive session in the place of Ayangburen of Ikorodu with stakeholders in Ikorodu Local Government Council and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), Federal Commissioner, NPC for Lagos State, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, noted that the overall goal of the exercise is to improve the standards of living and the quality of life of the people in the country. Hundeyin also pleaded that residents in Lagos and other states should not leave their present place of work or house to their state of origin during census. She sought the cooperation of residents, appealing to them to cooperate with the demarcators.

Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, commended the present administration, saying that they have demonstrated veritable understanding and commitment to issues of population and development. Executive Chairman Ikorodu Local Government Area, Wasiu Ayodeji Adeshina, said Ikorodu is ready for the exercise.
